Research interests

Danijela Ristic-Medic MD, MSc, PhD, Scientific Research, is a medical doctor, specialist of internal medicine, with MSc and PhD in nutrition and metabolism. Since 1995, she works at University of Belgrade, Institute for medical research in Centre of Research Excellence in Nutrition and Metabolism. She is a scientist who is actively engaged in basic, clinical and epidemiology nutrition research, with focus on nutritional habits and nutritional status assessment, diet therapy, fatty acid profile in serum and erythrocyte as a biomarker of dietary intake, with background in defining the role of fatty acids in health and disease. The iodine intake-biomarker and health outcome with meta-analyses relationship is also part of research interest (Eurreca project). Obesity and hyperlipidemia is the field of her long-standing interest in the health prevention area and also through the metabolic aspects. She is working as a therapist at Counseling office for nutrition and metabolism. In the areas of nutrition therapy in malignant diseases she has lectured at continuing medical education. Up to know, she has over 100 published papers, abstract and reports in national and international peer reviewed journals. She actively takes part in scientific meetings, congresses, symposiums in the country and abroad.
